Read it in CopyMe
30 seconds
About 75 words at a natural pace. A tight ad or one quick tip.
1 minute
About 150 words. The sweet spot for TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
5 minutes
About 750 words. A short YouTube video or a wedding toast.
10 minutes
About 1,500 words. A full YouTube video or a conference talk.

Then read it

The time is right. Now say it in one take.

In CopyMe your script scrolls as you speak and waits when you pause, so the take runs as long as the timer said and not three times longer.

Questions

How is the speaking time worked out?

The timer counts the words you would say aloud and divides them by your speaking pace in words per minute. Notes in square brackets, like [B-ROLL: city at night], are left out because nobody reads them aloud.

What speaking pace should I pick?

Most people speak at about 150 words a minute on camera. Lessons and complex topics sit nearer 120 to 140. TikTok, Reels and Shorts usually run faster, at 160 to 190. Not sure of yours? Take the speaking speed test and use the number it gives you.

How many words is a 1 minute speech?

About 150 words at a natural pace, 120 if you speak slowly and 180 if you speak fast. A 5 minute speech is about 750 words, and a 10 minute one about 1,500.

Why does my real take run longer than the timer says?

Pauses, emphasis and the odd restart all add time. Allow about 10 percent extra for a calm delivery. The timer is closest when you read from a prompter, because you never stop to remember the next line.

Is my script saved or uploaded?

No. The timer runs in your browser and the text stays on this device, so it is there if you open another free tool. Clear it anytime.

What does CopyMe add?
