Questions
How does the test measure my speed?
Your browser’s own speech recognition hears the passage as you read it and counts the words over time. Where a browser can’t listen, such as Firefox, press start, read the passage, and press Done: the passage length divided by your time gives the same number.
Is my voice recorded?
CopyMe records nothing and stores no audio. In Chrome and Edge the browser sends speech to its own recognition service to turn it into words, as it does for any voice typing; Safari can do it on the device.
What is a good speaking speed?
There is no single right number. About 150 words a minute sounds natural for most videos and podcasts. 120 to 140 suits lessons and complex topics, and 160 to 190 suits Shorts, Reels and TikTok, where energy matters more than room to think.
How do I slow down when I speak on camera?
Write shorter sentences, mark a pause after each key line, and read from a prompter so you never rush to remember what comes next. A prompter that follows your voice waits when you pause, which makes slowing down feel natural.
What does CopyMe add?
CopyMe is an AI teleprompter that follows your voice as you speak, so the script keeps your pace. Its rehearsal coach listens to a full run and tells you where you stumbled, dropped words or went off script. It has a 7-day free trial; a card is needed to start and nothing is charged during the trial.
